NATUROPATHIC:
What is Naturopathic Medicine:
Naturopathic Medicine combines scientific knowledge with natural medicine to treat illness and improve health. Naturopathic doctors focus on addressing the root cause of an illness, while promoting the body’s innate ability to heal. Treatment is chosen based on each individual case using various Naturopathic tools including; clinical nutrition, diet and lifestyle modifications, botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine, and acupuncture.
Treatment options:
Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of diagnostic techniques and treatments that have evolved over the last 3000 years. In an acupuncture treatment, fine sterilized needles are inserted through the skin and directly into the desired acupuncture channel (or meridian) in the underlying tissue. According to Chinese medicine, the normal functioning of the body depends on a balance of yin and yang energy. The flow of the body’s energy takes place along 20 lines on the body called meridians.
There are over a thousand acupuncture points along these meridians. Stimulation of these points by needles, heat, pressure, or electrical currents can correct the imbalance of energy, releasing blockages of energy and enhancing the body’s natural capacity to heal itself.
Trigger point acupuncture:
Activities, whether occupational or sports related, can produce repetitive stress on a specific muscle or muscle group. Chronic stress in muscle fibers can lead to the development of trigger points. Dr. Rogers ND is able to locate trigger points and with the insertion of acupuncture needles into the trigger point pain can be alleviated. Sustained relief usually is achieved with a brief course of treatment.
Botanical/Herbal Medicine:
Botanical medicine can be used to treat infections, support the immune system, balance hormones, regulate the bodies physiology and as tonics to improve and maintain health. The roots, leaves, bark, flowers and oils of a plant may be used in the forms of teas, tinctures, ointments, supplements and foods in the treatment of patients. Herbs can have potential side effects or interactions with conventional medication. Dr. Rogers ND is qualified to recognize these contraindications and create a personalized protocol for each patients individualized needs.
Clinical Nutrition:
The therapeutic use of foods is a fundamental tool Naturopathic Nutrition: doctors use in the treatment of patients. As primary care physicians Naturopathic doctors are trained to understand how diet can impact health. Through the use of appropriate dietary modifications & nutritional supplements, health concerns can be addressed & treated with minimal side effects & long lasting change. Addressing underlying nutritional issues and making sustainable changes to your eating habits can be a significant part of your journey to optimal health.
